Rehabilitative Study Centre
Vani Vidya Varati has been working successfully on inculcating and spreading education amongst financially, mentally, physically, or socially disadvantaged, ST/SC boys and girls of different ages who are unable to keep up with their studies normally. Our Aims is to ensure education for all, harness their inertial capabilities and build up a friendly teachers-student relationship. Presently we have the provisions for Secondary, Senior Secondary and Graduate courses in English and Bengali medium along with Computer Education to our level best.
Crèches for children of rural working mothers (Wage laborers)
This is operational at Murarai II Block, namely Paikar village. This is very good & effective support service for rural working woman. They leave their children in these crèches while going for work Presently our crèches are taking care of 50 children belonging to the age group of below 6 years. Two crèches mothers selected from the local communities to take care of the children. Children stay there from 8 a.m. to 4 p. m. They are provided with mid day meal, afternoon snacks and pre-primary education through joyful learning system. Our ain is to help these children have a disciplined & hygienic life and their elder can attend school regularly.
Livelihood promotion through natural resources management
A major activity of Paikar Vani Vidya Varati is enhancing food and income security in the rural area encouraging land based activities and optimization of land and water resources. Farmers are made aware of more scientific agricultural practices for cultivation of paddy, wheat, oilseed, vegetables, conversion from mono-cropped to multiple cropping, plantation of forest species and fruit plants like mango, jackfruit, and blackberry, more scientific agricultural practices like (SRI), HYV, cultivation of alternative crops, increased usage of organic manure to rather than chemical ones. Our Aim is to make farmers shift for the traditional practices to ensure increase in cash income.
Animal resource development
Animal rearing is the second major livelihood option in the target areas. To enhance income from animal rearing, major steps have been taken on animal health care and scientific animal rearing. Conversation is on process with several institutions regarding setting up poultry and small goat rearing units in the villages. We have initiated a serious drive for developing village level animal paramedics through regular training (classroom and on field practice). They are trained to provide primary health care services to the animals in villages and assisting the veterinary doctor
Family counselling & legal support
To provide support for the women, Paikar Vani Vidya Varati has been running family counselling centre for years. Women who re usually the victims of family disputes, violence and deprivations dare to take any action against sheer mental and physical torture and get victimized at every stages of administration. We help for amicable settlement of family disputes, save marriages, protect them from domestic violence and discrimination through timely and appropriate counselling and taking legal or administrative steps. Women are made aware of their rights, both legal and constitutional.
Health Care Camps
The Society runs a mobile unit of Doctors and Nurses to provide medical services, primary medicine and referral services to the rural people in almost all the remote where there is no health centre. Besides, we arrange special cancer treatment camp by eminent foreign cancer specialist once in a year. Our aim is to provide medical support to people in need and also assist then to avail treatment at Kolkata in serious cases.
Awareness programmes
We organize different awareness program throughout the year on Value of education, Woman education & woman rights, Nutrition & Food habits (Balance Diet). Drug abuse, Environment protection, Child Care & development. Our aim is to help and convince drop-out students to restart their studies again and enrich knowledge level of rural women on nutrition and food habits child care.
Vocational Training and job assistance
To eradicate the unemployment problem both at rural and urban areas Paikar Vani Vidya Varati has established a Vocational Training Centre with the technical support of MSHM in Kolkata. Both boys and girls from 18 to 45 years of age are being benefited by this project. The programme is conducted throughout West Bengal. Besides, we are in the process of getting affiliation from National Skill Development Board of India Our future aim is to establish Arts & Crafts Training Institute for women in rural areas impart vocational training to underprivileged women from surrounding villages in tailoring, embroidery, typing, beautician, spoken English.
